It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, Everywhere your beard goes! From Christmas beard baubles, to glittery festive beards! The internet certainly knows how to jingle up our furry faces all in the name of Christmas! With the holiday celebrations almost in full swing you might find yourself facing some truly ice bitingly cold temperatures outside in the freezing wintery months. But how does one stop the elements affecting our beloved fuzzy chops? Let's break down a few pointers so your beard can continue on unharmed this frosty Christmas and beyond...

REDUCE THE WATER'S TEMPERATURE WHEN WASHING YOUR BEARD IN THE COLDER MONTHS!

As the temperatures begin to fall during the winter months, so should the temperature of the water you use to wash through you beard. Although it's mega tempting to jump right into a nice hot shower when it's cold outside, it's pretty important that your beard does not. As using water that's a touch hotter than usual will certainly begin to dry out your beard in next to no time, which can add to beard dryness and skin irritation to name all but a few. The safest option is to use lukewarm water to help rinse through your beard wash, whilst making sure not to overwash your beard either.

PROTECT YOUR BEARD FROM THE OUTSIDE ELEMENTS AS AND WHEN POSSIBLE!

If you work outside in the winter months it'll prove beneficial to help protect your face fluff from the freezing cold elements when possible. The simplest way to do this would be to keep your face wrapped in a scarf or neckerchief style neck warmer. As long spell periods outdoors in the cold will usually cause condensation to build around your moustache and through the beard, which if cold enough, can easily form into 'beard-cicles'. Yep, icicles that form in and throughout the tips of your facial hair. And although they may look rather jolly, they are rather uncomfortable and can easily add further damage to your beard in the form of split ends and added brittle spots. Helping protect your facial forest will most certainly improve your beards performance.

WHATEVER THE WEATHER, DON'T SHY AWAY FROM USING BEARD OILS AND BALMS!

Although applying some oil or balm may be one of the last things on your mind when jack frost is biting at your tippy toes, it's still a very important part of your beard grooming routine. Come rain, shine, heatwaves or antarctic frosts, your facial hair still heavily relies upon all that your beard oil/balm provide, if not even more so. As using oils helps keep both your face and facial hair moisturized , locking in the essential oils to provide all the goodness it needs to continue to grow long, thick and full, whilst protecting against split ends, beard dryness and that dreaded 'beard-druff'. So, continue following whatever routine you are already using that has been tried and tested to work well for both you and your beard, and you'll not go far wrong my bearded Brother.
