THE ARMY ARE NOW CONSIDERING AXING THEIR BAN ON BEARDS

The Armed Forces are in the midst of deciding whether or not facial hair can be safely grown upon the faces of their troops suggest reports.

Many soldiers have been discussing the idea for many years be it on social media, forums and with their amongst themselves. And the initial 'beard ban' may soon become a thing of the past.

Some soldiers were first granted the allowance of beards and turbans based on religious grounds last year, and since then the ball has been firmly rolling to lift the ban completely, allowing all troops to grow out some form of facial hair should they please to do so.

These reports were first reported by ArmyTimes, a highly reputable military website that focuses on the United States Army personnel.

Although not everyone seems so opposed by the new idea, as many comments on several forums suggest many prefer the U.S armed forces to maintain a 'Clean cut' appearance in place of a 'scruffy' looking beard. Although such discussions have been in full swing for some years, these ideas are still just that, an idea.

If the leaderships do decide to move forward with the allowance of facial hair, an update to AR 670-1 (Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia) would have to be eventually signed off by the secretary of the Armed Forces.

So, as things currently stand the no beard ban still remains, but that could be subject to change in the not so distant future as the current beard supporters continue to grow. (pun totally intended!)

Bearded soldiers have become huge business in the games industry sector too, as we can often customise our virtual-selves to proudly sport the biggest, most pristine lumberjack style beards currently possible, a feature I always use to it's absolute fullest.

If anything I've now become a little snobby if I begin to customise my virtual character in any FPS (first person shooter) of standard 'shoot em', only to find that facial hair isn't an option. I mean, come on now, really?

Thankfully this doesn't happen all too often anymore, as beards are big business. It is now believed that around 70% of New Yorkers alone have some form of facial hair, with the majority of those men preferring to opt in for the full beard look too.

Games such as Call Of Duty , Battlefield and Medal Of Honor have rolled out several titles that fully support bearded troops, and who can fault them! I mean, give a man a weapon and he looks intimidatingly strong, give a BEARDED man a weapon and he instantly looks heroic. Hell, give a bearded guy a NERF gun and he still looks badass!

It's about this time we ask you, our awesome readers what are your thoughts on the allowance of beards within the Armed forces? Would this be something you would support? Or do you prefer there being strict rules in certain career sectors that disapprove on facial hair all together?
