The beard boom remains big business in the year 2018, and shows little to no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
It seems every man and his dog has tested out the facial hair life at least once in their life and may have chosen to stick to the 'beard life' and maintain their face whiskers.
So much so in fact, that the razor industry has seen another significant loss in sales. It has been reported that sales have continued to decline to 5.1% over the past year alone.
Leading razor providers Gillette followed a study in which suggested that the average number of times men shave per month had fallen from 3.7 to 3.2 over the last decade, this resulting in some sales problems to arise within the razor industry.
As a result, we are beginning to see new directions taken by companies who are struggling to adjust to the crunch. Gillette, alone now offers a handy walk-through guide to help maintain facial hair, instead of being 'clean shaven'. a direction in previous years would never have been an option from such brands.
For years and years, our beards have been labeled as 'hipster beards' or 'fads' and 'silly phases'. But despite negative words been thrown in beardsmen' directions, the razor industry has been hit where it hurts most, (no, not the balls!) in the profits, or therefore lack of. So I guess they either need to adapt or die, as brutal as the saying suggests.
I'm still puzzled that today I I go and visit the male grooming products aisle in my local store, I will be greeted with every device available to man in order to help hack away my facial hair, yet next to nothing in support of helping grow and maintain a beard.
Seems like a very slippery slide to follow if you ask my opinion. So I feel this recent knock is very much deserved.
