Simply growing out a beard and leaving it to it's own devices isn't going to cut it when it comes to displaying a healthy facial forest. You have to take as much time, care and consideration into maintaining that glorious facial mane as you would the hair on your head. Bad beard days do very much happen, where no matter how much love and TLC you give those furry chops of yours it's just not going to look at it's best, no matter how much you may try. So today, here's a little advice on How To Deal With A Bad Beard Day...
If you're fortunate enough to have a significant other in your life you'd have probably heard them say 'My hair, it just isn't working for me today!' as they continue to get themselves in a dizzy state trying to fix the problem at hand. Now, before I grew out a glorious beard I never fully understood what my wife was complaining about. I mean, after all it is the same hair that was on your head yesterday, and the day before that and that appeared to have worked out just fine, what do you even mean? Now, having my beard to take care of each day I can fully appreciate that some days the beard just doesn't sit as good as how it did say the day previously. If you sport a beard of your own I'm sure you'll understand that statement too. There are a few handy little tips to try before waving the white flag though, let me run you through them.
Firstly, if that beard of yours has gone rogue you can always try washing it. Always remember to use a lesser harsh shampoo in comparison to any regular shampoo you may already use on your head though, as at times they contain different ingredients which could further damage and irritate your facial hair follicles. May I highly recommend that you try our very own 'The Beard Struggle' beard wash which has been smartly formulated specifically for the use of keeping your beard fresh and healthy.
After you have given that beard a good ol' wash I wouldn't recommend using a hair dryer. I much prefer to towel dry my beard whilst combing though it to loosen up any untouched beard knots that may be present. Once the beard is almost dry I apply a generous helping of 'The Beard Struggle' balm or oil depending on which I'd prefer to use that day. This will further your beards controllability and shape whilst providing you with a nicely scented beard that visibly appears in a much better shape whilst helping strengthen and repair any areas of day to day damage that may be within your beard such as dry weakening hairs. Once I've applied my product I simply comb through with a well suited wide toothed comb whilst forming the shape of my beard.
If you've followed those tips and yet your beard still isn't looking at the top of it's A game could it be time for a little trim? This can be done either in the comfort of your own home with some trusty beard/barber scissors or if you don't hold much faith in your DIY abilities then I would highly suggest you pay a visit to your local barber to do so instead. I have huge trust issues when It comes to letting anybody other than myself even close to my face with either a razor of a pair of deadly scissors, but I'm about ready to pay a visit to my barber next week. (I'll let you know how that goes in a later beard blog!)
And if all else fails then simply strike it down to one of those 'Bad beard days' and carry on with your schedule. It probably does not appear half as bad to those around you. We all have such days from time to time and it is not worth over stressing about it. Tomorrow is another day for your beard to get it right. So move forward and continue smiling, Brother.
