The Olympic games 2016 are in full swing in Rio - Brazil, as are the amount of marvellous beards on display so it seems! You don't have to search for long to notice that beards are a huge part of in the Olympic Games, in past, present and future furry faces have remained on numerous athletes, from gold, silver and bronze medallist champions to their ever sporting competitors.
Today we take a moment to pay homage to the Olympic Games Rio 2016, as we highlight four of our favourite beard-manes we have seen so far seen during competition...
Olympic track & field -Michael Tinsley...
Michael Tinsley has remained a fan favourite for sometime now. Representing the United States of America Tinsley is a track and field athlete who is no stranger to Olympic success, taking Olympic silver back in 2012 at the 400 meter hurdles finishing the course in 48.33 seconds he rightfully secured his spot on the U.S.A Olympic team. His beard hasn't always been part of his persona, but as you can see from the photo above he can certainly pack the perfect beard whenever he sees fit!
Olympic rower - Seth Weil...
Seth Weil is an Olympic athlete who represents the United States as part of the rowing team. Weil grew up windsurfing in the San Francisco Bay before he discovered rowing during his freshmen year at UC Davis where he went on to train for a further six years. His beard has caught the eye of many and often gets mentioned by the commentating team during television broadcasts. We can't help but admire such a rugged looking facial forest! There must be something pretty special in the air which helps that glorious beard-mane growing and long may this continue!
Olympic shooter - Daniel Repacholi...
Daniel Repacholi is an Australian sports shooter and has become a familiar face during the Olympic games, having taken a spot on the Australian team to compete for his country on three separate occasions. His outstanding red beard is almost as huge as his likable personality and cheerful smile.
Olympic Cyclist - Dan Craven...
Dan Craven is a racing cyclist currently competing in Rio representing his country, Namibia South Africa. Craven first began taking his cycling seriously during his studies at the University of Stellenbosch. Then later in 2005 he moved to Switzerland to pursue his dreams of becoming a professional cyclist. Craven has proudly displayed a scruffy beard-mane for sometime now and happily shares his support for the bearding community. After competing in Rio this year he took to Twitter to voice his love of beards as he tweeted - ''Beards are for everyone! They're like a kitten hugging your face. Every day.'' Well said I say chap! Well said!
