Hello to all, and a good day to many of you who are reading today's installment of The Beard Struggle Beard blog!

We love covering just about anything and everything to do with our fuzzy faces, so much so that I spend literally hours upon hours scratching my head for fresh, new and exciting ideas covering all things bearded.

So let's get cracking with today's topic, which is smartly titled Five Things I Wish I Knew About Before Growing Out My Beard...

TAKING CARE OF THOSE FACE WHISKERS IS NO JOKE!

One of the first skills I soon mastered when growing my facial hair, was how to take jolly good care of it! Beard care is no joke and is often overlooked by some.

Brushing those whiskers, applying some product, from beard oils to balms, and even combing out any knots and tangles are all very beneficial to your growing game.

These routines can take a little while to get into the swing of things and may prove somewhat time-consuming at times too, but the results from doing so will most certainly show for themselves, so be sure to stick with it.

THE ITCHING STAGES IS A REAL PAIN IN THE ASS!

The dreaded itching phase has to be one of the most annoying stages of beard growth, in fact, many men fall and fail at this hurdle, and throw in the towel before shaving.

Speaking from experience I can recall this dreaded few weeks all too well. The best way I can describe this is like having an uncontrollable itch that cannot be satisfied. The more you scratch it the worst it can become.

I found cold showers helped short term, and a light helping of beard oil also soothed the irritation ever so slightly. Thankfully this stage doesn't last too long, maybe a week or two at the most, so hang in there Brother.

BEARD OILS AND BALMS ARE YOUR FRIEND!

Before you start your beard growing journey, balms, butter, and oils are possibly one of the last things on your mind, and you probably don't think they serve much of a purpose anyway.

When in truth caring for your face fur right from the start is by far the smartest thing you can do. Oils help moisturize your sin and promote better-growing conditions for even the stubbornest of beards.

So, choose your product wisely, don't cheat and cut costs, quality must come first for better results across the board.

THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS TO GROWING OUT!

When a man begins to grow out his facial hair, many factors come into play on how successful it will become.

Family genetics play the biggest role, of course. Now, that doesn't mean you can't muster up any facial hair, but if your father and/or grandfather have no issues flourishing his whiskers the chances are you'll be equally as blessed.

Beard care products can work much like fertilizers in a growing field, they provide optimal growing ground for your face fuzz to grow.

Sadly there are no shortcuts, quick fixes or hacks when it comes to growing out, so don't be too downhearted if you don't wake up full Viking after just a couple of weeks, you'll get there, it just takes a little time.

IT'S ALWAYS HANDY TO CARRY A NAPKIN!

Have a rather fancy beard? Often finding extra crumbs you weren't expecting when you look in the mirror after a quick bite to eat? This is where the handy napkin can come in real handy.

Always having a wet wipe or pocket napkin on your person will help with any otherwise embarrassing overspills at the dinner table, not such a problem when you're eating in the comfort of your own home, but something nobody needs to see when you're out and about.

I believe 'man wipes' are readily available online, and come in a pocket-sized pack for easy carry purposes, invest in them wisely, you now it makes sense.

So, that sees another beard blog come to a sweet close for today my furry faced friends. As always we love to hear from you in the comments section below.
