CAN YOU REALLY SLEEP YOUR WAY TO THE PERFECT BEARD?

It's been a real long day, you get in from hard days work, kick off your stinky shoes, forcefully have a shower and jump right into bed. The next morning you jump up at sunrise ready to start the daily grind once more, but notice your beard looks pretty dapper this fine early morning, and somewhat longer than it did yesterday and the day previous before that.

But how? Nothing can grow that quickly over night, or can it?

It is a little known fact that facial hair never sleeps. It is more noticeable for those who choose to shave each day, when they wake up with a face full of what many may consider to be pretty impressive (yet rather itchy!) stubble.

So, how does this work? and can sleeping actually promote better facial hair growth?

Whenever your body is at rest it helps regenerate itself from tiredness, fatigue as well as other possible damaging factors from being run down and tired. Much like popping your mobile/cell phone on charge, we all need time to rest and recover. Relaxing alone will provide you with a better mental balance and a clearer mind afterwards.

When we are in a true state of relaxation and in a deep sleep our body hair often grows a little faster. And that's not all. Pretty much everything that grows upon your body will do so better when you are in 'the land of nod'. From fingernails, toenails, including your body hair.

We may even appear that little bit taller when we first wake up and jump out of bed in the morning, as our muscle and spinal structure stretches out and loosens when it is rested, which can make us appear a few inches taller. Don't believe me? After a busy day just before you hit the sack measure and make a note of your height, then after a great nights undisturbed sleep do the same again and you will see the results for yourself. Pretty neat, right?

It's equally as important to make sure you are getting the right amount of sleep required for your person. The National Institutes Of Health suggests that the average adult usually sleeps less than seven hours per night, but that isn't suggesting that is enough for the individual's needs.

Newborn babies between the age of 0 to 17 months require between 14 to 17 hours sleep, whereas this changes the older we become. In your teens you require around 9 to 11 hours of sleep each night, then into your adulthood we usually need around 8 to 10 hours of undisturbed rest each night.

So, with enough sleep under your belt, a healthy diet and lifestyle with a side order of varied exercise could see you sporting that marvelous facial forest you have always dreamed of.

Of course, these things do take time and do require a little added tender love and care from their beholder. By this I mean you won't wake up in the morning, jump right out of bed with a flawless beard. You have to put in the time and care to brush out those knots, apply a little product and promote total epicness upon your chin and upper lip.
