5 BAD BEARD HABITS YOU REALLY NEED TO AVOID

Hello to all, and a good day as we welcome you to today's The Beard Struggle beard blog.

Being a bearded fellow myself I often find it rather too easy to pick up bad beard habits and practices, today I wanted to highlight a few of those in the hope to help you eliminate them in the process.

So, without further delay, let's begin the topic at hand, titled - 5 Bad Beard Habits You Really Need To Avoid...

SHOWER AND WASH YOUR BEARD PLENTY, JUST DON'T OVER WASH IT!

Of course, beard maintenance is key to growing out a healthily balanced face full of trusty whiskers.

But overwashing can happen, and will quickly dry out your skin and leave your facial hair brittle and weak in places. So, it's really important to protect your fuzz when possible.

It's really simple to do this, look to wash your beard every other day, this will eliminate overwashing, and use beard specific products when washing and conditioning your fuzz too. Much like the stuff that we sell in our exclusive Viking online store!

MAKE SURE FOOD CRUMBS DON'T LAY DORMANT IN YOUR FACE FUZZ!

Ever scoffed down your lunch in a hurry whilst on the go? Been so hungry that your food didn't even touch the sides? Only to later find out that crumbs have made there way into your marvelous man-mane without you noticing?

This can happen all too easily when you are in the comfort of your own home it is not so bad, but if you are out with friends and loved ones it can be pretty embarrassing when it does.

The simplest way to fix this is to make your food more 'bite-sized' and always, I repeat ALWAYS carry a napkin or two handy in one's pocket.

EMBRACE WHAT YOU'VE GOT, AND NOT WHAT YOU HAVENT!

Sometimes we want better beard growing results quicker than you can possibly grow them. And often we feel failure rather than success when we start growing out our facial hair.

Sometimes this can make us act rash, and make trimming mistakes, or even worst, shaving away what we have on the hope of starting over.

Please note, facial hair grows at many different rates of growth from one man to another. And expecting to not shave for a couple of weeks and to sport, a magical man-mane overnight is super unrealistic and just won't happen.

Let these things take their time to grow, and don't feel so bad when you don't see quick results. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day, am I right?

DON'T LET YOUR FACE FUR GROW WILD AND OUT!

On the flipside of the above, you must also take jolly good care of your face whiskers as and when they grow. It is never too soon to start great grooming practices, and beard care products should quickly become a must in your day to day routine.

Don't expect to roll out of bed and face the day ahead without brushing, combing, oiling and protecting your beard. You must take some time aside each morning, even if you are running a little late to kick-start your day.

If you don't practice a good beard care routine, you'll soon begin to notice dry spots, split ends and troublesome beard problems moving on forward. So think smart, and protect your fuzz at every corner.

DO NOT PICK OUT THOSE TOUGH NOTTED HAIRS YOU MIGHT FIND!

Have you ever been giving your beard a good fondle (yes, I said beard! Keep it clean!) and discovered a tough, corse hair amongst the hairs?

Chances are you've pulled one or two out in the process of finding them without a second thought. But stop, you could be doing more harm than good in doing so!

If you are forever pulling hairs you might start to notice thinning areas and even worse, bad spots may begin to appear. The best solution here is to try and leave any tough hairs well alone, and instead of pulling them away from your face, use a comb or brush and try to work out any knots and tangles you might find, helping to save the hair rather than to cut it.

If you find split ends, you can use a pair of barbers scissors and gently cut off the tip of the troubled hair, saving it in the process.

If you follow a good beard care routine the chances are you'll find less troublesome hairs as time goes by. Just be sure to care for your fuzz and don't skip any days as tempting as that might be on a lazy weekend.
