Let's face it, beards are just about everywhere. What started as a little lazy light stubble quickly grows into a marvel of a beard that we instantly become rather attached to.
Beards are big business, and usually with such success comes a window of opportunity for great products to be made, beard oils and balms to be more precise. But what's sorts the good from the bad? Today, I want to discuss 4 Things You Should Avoid When Choosing The Right Beard Oil, So let us begin...
AVOID THOSE TACKY, STICKY BEARD OILS!
When selecting a good balanced beard oil make sure they take to your face fuzz nicely, and doesn't leave an overly oil residue sticking to your face.
There's nothing more irritating than having to wipe away huge slippery patches from everything your beard come into contact with, such as mobile phones, items of clothing and even your friends and families shoulders after a greeting or parting hug.
Oils are meant to compliment ones facial hair, not smother it, or leaving it feeling thick, dirty or heavy. When you find the right oil for both you and your face fuzz you'll soon understand what feels good and what doesn't, almost like a well fitted pair of new shoes, it is rather special.
MAKE SURE THE OIL SCENT IS NOT TOO OVERPOWERING!
The window of choice is impressively large when it comes to the variety of beard oil scents that are readily available on the market today. But sadly, some are rather overpowering and become more of a nuisance than a blessing.
When I first began my growing journey I tried numerous brands oils. I'm not here to bash anyone here, but some of them were just too overpowering. One of my favourite smells in the world is chocolate orange. I mean, what's not to love? Chocolate and orange work great together, but with this particular oil it didn't work so well.
The scent was strong, to the point after wearing it for less than an hour I could almost taste it in the back of my throat. I ended up tossing the rest of it in the trash and trying out another. So, what might sound pleasant to read from the label, make sure the balance is right before use. As the last thing you'll want is to smelly like a cheap perfume for the day.
SEARCH FOR A GOOD CONSISTENCY OF BEARD OIL THAT WILL LAST!
This is also a very important point to make, but when you are searching for a premium beard oil it's key to find the right texture and consistency when doing so. Some oils apply perfectly, but do not hold the correct balance of essential oils that makes the product last.
For example, a great balanced oil should be applied each morning, and last the entire day without the need for a top up until late evening. It's important to make sure you use the correct amount, not too little, not too much. Much like our 'TBS' range. See what I did there? ;)
CERTAIN OILS CAN GO OFF, SO MAKE SURE YOURS ISN'T ONE OF THEM!
You know that grooming set you got for Christmas a few years ago from your in laws? the chances are if you've left them on the shelf this long they might have gone past its best. Although most brands do not have a designated 'sell by date' on their products, many do indeed go off, so to speak.
The usual signs that your product might be past its best will usually be told in the smell. If it smells a little odd, bin it, do not use it. Consistency will also play a factor. If it feels gritty and not right, bin it as well.
Or why not save yourself all the hassle and try our 'TBS' Viking range. We promise you'll not be disappointed. (Explore all categories)
