4 'NO SHAVE NOVEMBER' BLOOPERS YOU REALLY NEED TO AVOID

Author: The Beard Struggle

November comes but once a year, granting your usual clean shave routine to take a nosedive whilst you flourish out your very own tash' or beard all in the name of charity. Although we are only a week into 'No Shave November' you've probably managed to muster up some rather impressive facial gruff. To make sure you survive the weeks ahead, and hopefully become rather attached (No pun intended) to your newly acquired facial fluff. I wanted to gift you a few no goes when it comes to growing out an awesome beard. So, here's 4 'No Shave November' Bloopers You Really Should Avoid this month, and beyond...

NO NEED TO TRIM THIS MONTH, SUNSHINE!

Ok, so you might be experiencing much higher levels of itching if you're new to growing out a beard. Usually this only lasts a few weeks so suck it up my friend. In turn you may be feeling a little out of your depth and feel a little scruffy compared to your usual clean shave groomed finish. Well, although you might feel like a scruffy old smelly sock, rest assured you don't look it. So whatever you do, no matter how much the stubble begs, no matter how much it cries. Never...NEVER trim the facial fuzz!

DON'T FORGET TO WASH THAT FURRY FACE!

It's easy for newbies to assume a furry face is a as simple as allowing millions of tiny hairs to burst through your face whilst you sit back and do little to nothing on helping support it. Well, I'm afraid to say that this couldn't be further from the truth. In the earlier stages it is important to keep your face clean to avoid any dry dead skin cells to form, which in turn becomes the dreaded and rather ugly 'beard-druff'. So make sure you take a couple of minutes in the morning to wash and dry your face and newly found face stubble. And as the beard progresses to a believable length make sure you use beard specific shampoos and conditioners to keep your facial forest at it's absolute prime.

PATIENCE YOUNG FURRY ONE, PATIENCE!

I always stress this point to anybody and everybody who asks my advice when it comes to starting out growing a beard for the very first time. But having heaps of patience is a vital key to your beard growing success. If you're expecting to hit the pillow after not shaving for just a couple of days, to wake up like an double from Michael Jackson's werewolf in Thriller then you're going to be sadly disappointed. It takes a whole lot of time to sprout out a beard. And whilst I appreciate nobody likes to play the waiting game, I'm sorry to report that beards really don't give a f*ck. So sit tight. Be extra patient, and granted you wait long enough you'll be sporting a marvel of beard soon enough, Brother.

COMBING WHAT YOU HAVE CAN ONLY PROVE BENEFICIAL!

For those who don't have a beard or are new to doing so combing a beard might feel somewhat 'alien'. When I whipped my rather snazzy 'TBS' handmade wooden flip-style beard comb out amongst my friends at a local bar for the first time they looked on in disbelieve. Some found the thought of combing a beard a rather humorous thing to do. But truth be told it is also a rather vital part of a bearded mans day-to-day grooming routine. It is never too early to begin combing through what beardy stubble you may have too. As in doing so you'll begin training your facial hair to grow in the direction you so wish for it to do so. Splash on a little 'TBS' beard oil or tonic balm then comb through to give your face and ever growing stubble an even balance of protection and hydration for optimal growing results.
