If you are at all like me you'll probably be rather attached to your beard. Now, I know that's kind of a given considering that thousands of facial hair follicles attach us to our beards, but I mean emotionally attached.
Beards are not a gimmick, nor a fad or phase that we grow out of. My beard is a huge part of my image, and has become an even bigger part my life. So, today I wanted to take a little cheeky lighthearted look at four reasons why you should never shave again, EVER. So let us begin...
Do you recall those horrible adolescent years where you had more spots than friends and noticed body hair sprouting in places it hasn't before? Well, they say facial hair makes us look older, but if you shave that beard of yours away you'll have the reverse effect. Only for all the wrong reasons, as you'll now resemble a young teenager all over again.
Believe me when I tell you, this isn't a look you'll like either. When I had a trimming accident a few years ago the outcome was pretty ugly. I went from 'fearless red beard' to 'little boy moonface'. It was devastating.
If you are a father your kids might not pay much attention to your fuzzy face. But you can bet they'll be the first to notice if you choose to axe away that beard. You've only got to search YouTube momentarily to find videos of children's reactions to their Daddy's new 'clean shave' look.
It never ends well, with some kids refusing to apologise who the new beardless fellow is in front of them, and most even cry. Do you want to see your kids cry? No, me neither. Another goal for beards, I'd say.
Everybody loves a great beard. Be it with the guys at the bar, during your daily commute or at the office, you'll get comments a plenty almost everyday, most of which are positive. Once you choose to shave away that furry awesomeness you'll stop being that recognisable friendly furry face. You'll simply blend into the crowd, rather than stand out from it. Those who used to spy you called you 'that awesome bearded guy' will now know you more simply as 'that guy'. Doesn't sound nearly as awesome now, does it?
