STRUGGLES - MYTHS DEBUNKED PART 2

Author: The Beard Struggle

A little while ago I wrote a post which delved into a small collection of common beard myths which helped debunk them as nothing more than internet 'hearsay' nonsense. Well, today I'm jumping right back into the deep end helping defuse another collection or bearding myths, so without further ado here's five beard myths, debunked!

SHAVING YOUR BEARD WILL MAKE IT GROW BACK FASTER!

This is a big fat NOPE. Nothing more than another old wives tail in my opinion. There's no solid evidence to confirm that shaving a beard will encourage the hair to grow faster. Yes, it may appear to be growing back faster as the blunt cut ends are more visible in comparison to a newly sprouted hair. But no, I don't believe cutting off your beard will encourage your beard to grow any faster whatsoever.

MY BEARD LOOKS SCRAPPY EVEN AFTER WEEKS OF GROWING!

Beards grow in various shapes and sizes, and in doing so each beard grows at it's own rate. Yes, you can help encourage facial forest growth with numerous products, but essentially it's all about your genetics on how fast your beard will grow out. Some take months, if not the best part of a year! So remain patient!

MY BEARD IS VARIOUS COLOURS AND LOOKS ODD, ONLY DARKER BEARDS LOOK GOOD.

I beg to differ my fellow multicoloured bearded fellow! I think your beard is splendidly eunique! I too have a beard which includes an array of various colours. Mainly ginger, with a mix of darker and really light hairs. If over time it took on a more extravagant shade and i woke one morning looking like a wizard straight off of the set of Harry Potter i would still proudly rock the sh** out of it, and proudly so! Whatever shade of beard your facial forest may be, rock it loudly and display it proudly!

ONLY TRUST A BARBER TO CUT YOUR BEARD!

This one will probably cause the most difference in opinion. I'm not going to outright bash barbers as I understand their importance to most. But I personally prefer to maintain my beard in the comfort of my own home. I have in the earlier stages visited a barber, but i always feel over protective whilst sat in the dreaded barbers chair. After all a mistake can be made in just seconds, but growing your beard takes time and a whole lot of patience! If you're unsure or don't trust yourself trimming I would always advice you visit a professional barber. But if you are calm and confident, take your time to gently carve your beard into your desired shape/size.

MOST WOMEN DISLIKE BEARDS AS THEY ARE TOO ITCHY!

Beards are a matter of taste to the individual. For example some men like blondes whilst others prefer brunettes or a fiery red head. But it's no surprise that many women do prefer a man with some form of facial hair. My wife wasn't overly keen on the idea when i announced i was going to be growing out my beard as long and wild as it chooses to be. But a huge beard doesn't just happen overnight, and just like it does on you, beards grow on those around us too. You can Google various surveys that suggest the votes tip in our favor. Not to mention the bedroom benefits your partner may enjoy from you sporting a beard. But lets leave that for a completely separate blog post! (Oi Oi!)
